Casa de Vinuri Cotnari emerged from the initiative of the second generation of the main shareholders of SC COTNARI SA, the largest producer in the Cotnari vineyard. It is an ambitious project exclusively dedicated to vinifying genuinely Romanian grape varieties. Cotnari SA, the parent company, is well-known in both Romania and many Western markets for its delightful sweet or semi-sweet Grasa de Cotnari wine. The vineyards of the Cotnari Wine House were established with state-of-the-art technology, aiming for low plant density and a wide distance between rows, allowing efficient air circulation and the use of modern machinery.
Casa de Vinuri Cotnari aims to uphold tradition by vinifying Romanian varieties in a modern approach. Therefore, the flagship grape variety of the vineyard, Grasa de Cotnari, is vinified both dry and as a sparkling wine in the millesime style. Busuioaca de Bohotin, Francusa, or Feteasca Neagra from the Cotnari Wine House reflect the vision and perspective of this producer in the viticultural area of Cotnari.
