The history of the Minis-Maderat Vineyard is rich and has its roots in the distant past. The first historical mention of viticulture in this area dates back to the 15th century, attesting to the long-standing tradition of grape cultivation. Throughout the centuries, the vineyard has experienced significant developments, being constantly mentioned in historical documents, whether the region was under Ottoman or Austrian rule.
During the medieval period, the wines produced in the Minis-Maderat Vineyard gained a remarkable reputation, becoming a significant source of income for local nobility and surrounding communities. The ongoing evolution of viticulture in this region contributed to the diversification of wine varieties and the refinement of production techniques.

The historical roots of viticulture in the current Minis-Maderat vineyard area date back to the 11th century, with documented evidence emerging almost four centuries later during the time of Iancu de Hunedoara. Notably, the town of Mocra boasts a wine cellar constructed in 1606 with a capacity of 800,000 liters, still operational today. Key milestones in the vineyard's history include the establishment of the Minis Winemaking School in 1880 and the Minis Winery Research and Production Station in 1957.
Within the Minis-Maderat vineyard, a rich array of grape varieties unique to the region thrives. Mustoasa de Maderat, Furmint, and Cadarca are among the local gems, complemented by valuable international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Noir. Traditional Romanian varieties like Feteasca Neagra and Feteasca Regala contribute to wines that distinctly reflect the terroir of this exceptional vineyard.
