Minis -Maderat Vineyard

The distinctive conditions of the Minis-Maderat Vineyard, including the microclimate influenced by the Mures Valley, the slope orientations, and the volcanic rock formations, along with the impact of the Mediterranean climate, converge to produce exceptional wines. The region is renowned for its dark, full-bodied red wines, characterized by an elegant touch derived from the unique volcanic rock present in the area. The south or southwest orientations of the slopes, coupled with favorable climatic conditions, create an ideal environment not only for the production of specific red wines but also for white wines and elegant sparkling varieties.

The historical roots of viticulture in the current Minis-Maderat vineyard area date back to the 11th century, with documented evidence emerging almost four centuries later during the time of Iancu de Hunedoara. Notably, the town of Mocra boasts a wine cellar constructed in 1606 with a capacity of 800,000 liters, still operational today. Key milestones in the vineyard's history include the establishment of the Minis Winemaking School in 1880 and the Minis Winery Research and Production Station in 1957.

Within the Minis-Maderat vineyard, a rich array of grape varieties unique to the region thrives. Mustoasa de Maderat, Furmint, and Cadarca are among the local gems, complemented by valuable international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Noir. Traditional Romanian varieties like Feteasca Neagra and Feteasca Regala contribute to wines that distinctly reflect the terroir of this exceptional vineyard.
