Husi Vineyard

The history of viticulture in the Husi vineyard traces its roots into the ancient past, shrouded in the mists of time. Archaeological marvels, dating back to the Neolithic era, stand as poignant evidence that the inhabitants of these lands engaged not only in the art of ploughing but also in the cultivation of vines. The tendrils of grapevines seem to intertwine with the very fabric of human endeavors on this fertile terrain. In the present day, the legacy of the Husi vineyard lives on, a testament to the enduring relationship between humanity and the vine. As we savor the wines crafted from these historic vineyards, we become part of a continuum, joining hands with those who, millennia ago, first tread these grounds and planted the seeds of a tradition that has stood the test of time.

Nestled in the southeastern embrace of the Central Moldavian Plateau, the Husi vineyard unfolds its story between the picturesque Crasnei Valley to the west and the flowing Prut Valley to the east. This enchanting realm spans the coordinates of parallel 46º51' north latitude and 46º41' east longitude, gracing the landscapes of Vaslui and Iasi counties.

As the sun-kissed tendrils of vineyards stretch across the undulating terrain, the Husi vineyard reveals its intricate relief. Here, the temperate-continental climate takes on nuanced shades, offering a moderate-continental temperament in the high hills and an authentically continental character within the Husilor Depression. Within the embrace of this climatic diversity, the vineyard boasts distinct wine-growing centers - Husi, Averesti, Vutcani, Murgeni, and Bohotin - each contributing to the rich mosaic of the Husi viticultural narrative.

The fame of the Husi vineyard resonates beyond its borders, carried by two exceptional varieties born from its terroir - the aromatic Busuioaca de Bohotin and the intriguing Zghihara de Husi, a variety that echoes the whispers of ancient Dacian roots. Amidst the vine rows, traditional Romanian varieties such as Feteasca Alba, Feteasca Regala, and Feteasca Neagra weave their stories alongside international companions like Welschriesling, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Pinot Noir. As the vines sway in the gentle breeze, each grape tells a tale of the land, the people, and the history that has shaped the Husi vineyard into the captivating sanctuary it is today.
