The Stefanesti-Arges vineyard is organised around three traditional wine-growing centres: Stefanesti and Topoloveni in Arges county and Valea Mare in Dambovita county. Its vineyards occupy gently rolling hills, slopes and terraces shaped by the landscape of the Arges valley and the southern foothills of the Carpathians.
The area is particularly well suited to high-quality white wines. Traditional Romanian varieties such as Feteasca Alba and Feteasca Regala thrive here, producing wines with freshness, delicacy and a distinctly local character. International white varieties including Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc and Welschriesling further broaden the stylistic diversity of the vineyard.
Red wines also form part of Stefanesti's viticultural identity. The native Feteasca Neagra is cultivated alongside international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The aromatic Romanian variety Tamaioasa Romaneasca has an equally important place in the local tradition, producing perfumed, elegant wines with a distinctive personality.
Although smaller and less internationally known than neighbouring Dealu Mare, Stefanesti-Arges remains an important part of Muntenia's wine heritage. Its combination of historic vineyards, varied grape varieties and favourable conditions for white wine gives the area a character of its own within the Romanian wine landscape.
