Feteasca Neagra

The cultivation of Feteasca Neagra extends over more than 3,300 hectares across Romania. Esteemed wine critic Jancis Robinson extols its virtues, noting, "They are typically dry and full-bodied with intense, complex aromas of spices, both red and black fruits, especially ripe plums, and tannins that can become more velvety with age." This acknowledgment underscores the dynamic and multifaceted nature of Feteasca Neagra wines, which, despite their ancient origins, have only recently begun to achieve the recognition and refinement they rightfully deserve.
While this grape variety's roots are firmly planted in the Moldova region, it has found a particularly conducive terroir within the Dealu Mare vineyard, which seems to unlock its fullest potential. Beyond its stronghold in the Moldova and Dealu Mare regions, Feteasca Neagra has also found favorable terroirs in other Romanian viticultural areas, such as Oltenia and Dobrogea. These regions contribute to the diversity of expressions of Feteasca Neagra, each influenced by local terroir and the winemakers' craftsmanship.
