Marselan
Marselan grapes are grown in Romania on a very limited total surface, of approximately 13 hectares. This variety has gained popularity in recent years and has become increasingly present in the country's wine landscape. Cultivation of this variety in Romania has started to rise, and Marselan is considered one of the promising grape varieties for quality wine production. Wine-growing regions in Romania that have adopted Marselan cultivation include Muntenia, Transylvania, and Dobrogea. The varied soils and moderate-continental climate in these regions provide favorable conditions for the development and ripening of Marselan grapes. Wines made from Marselan in Romania are appreciated for their pronounced fruitiness, rich aromas of black fruits, and balanced structure. These wines can vary in style, from varietal wines to blends where Marselan contributes to the character and final complexity of the wine. Although Marselan cultivation in Romania is still growing and not as widespread as in other wine-producing countries, interest in this variety is continuously expanding, and Romanian producers are increasingly exploring its potential in producing superior quality wines.
