The Panciu vineyard boasts a rich history that intertwines with the broader viticultural heritage of Moldova. Its location in the Piedmont area, beyond the Vranceni Carpathians and Subcarpathians bend in the eastern Piedmont Carpathians and Subcarpathians, marks a transition between the Subcarpathian orogen in the west and the Lower Siret Plain in the east. The vineyard area forms a strip with an average width of 9 km (with variations from 3 to 15 km), stretching between the Trotusului Valley to the north and the Putnei Valley to the south, covering an aerial length of 30 km. The vineyards of Panciu have been recognized since 1527 when Georg von Reichersterffer, serving as an emissary for Ferdinand de Habsburg alongside ruler Petru Rares, documented the existence of vineyards in the area. This marked the beginning of the region being known as the Podgoria Crucilor vineyard, a name echoing through the annals of history.
Panciu stands as one of Romania's traditional wine-growing areas, where grape varieties like Babeasca Neagra, Plavaie, Feteasca Neagra, and Feteasca Alba have reigned supreme for centuries.
