Zghihara de Husi

Authentic Romanian White Grape Variety
Romanian Wines - Zghihara
Born on the right side of the Prut River, on the sunny hills of the historical center of Moldova, the Zghihara de Husi variety is a Romanian grape variety much older than Husi, the locality that bestowed its name upon it. Zghihara is recognized for its robust nature, characterized by vigorous growth and substantial bushiness, along with good resistance to drought. However, it does exhibit sensitivity to frost and spring frosts. The grapes typically ripen at the end of September to the beginning of October, yet they do not achieve a high concentration of sugars, seldom exceeding 170-180 grams per liter.

Zghihara in Romania

Zghihara is cultivated exclusively in the wine-growing region of Moldavia, primarily in the Husi vineyard, from which it derives its name. Wines produced from Zghihara are light white wines with moderate acidity, making them excellent choices for hot days when one desires a simple, refreshing, and lively wine.
